Bhagavad Gita Chapter VI: Yoga of Meditation
The Bhagavad Gita ‘Song of the Lord’ is a conversation between Lord Krsna and the warrior prince Arjuna on the battlefield of the Kurukshetra. It provides a practical philosophy which expounds the technique for an active and peaceful life. Above all, it ushers one towards the goal of spiritual Enlightenment.
Karma yoga, working in a spirit of service and sacrifice, develops a spirit of renunciation. It prepares one to concentrate, meditate and realise the Self. Lord Krsna prescribes external and internal disciplines to control the mind and render it peaceful. It prepares seekers to practise meditation. Through meditation one reveals the supreme Self.
Krsna also answers Arjuna’s queries as to how a restless mind can be controlled and what is the plight of a seeker who falls short of Self-realisation in his lifetime.
